Red Fox Studio 1/48 WWII German Brick Base Type 2
The Red Fox Studio Type 2 Brick Base provides a colourful printed groundwork surface for 1/48 WWII German dioramas. Measuring 380 x 320mm, the brick design features a three-dimensional effect that adds depth and definition before the rest of the scene is assembled.
Its 5mm thick extruded PVC construction provides a base that can be adapted rather than dictating the final dimensions of the display. You can cut and scale the material to the required size, using either the full surface or a selected section of the Type 2 brickwork.
Shape the Groundwork Around Your Display
With its 1/48 scale brick pattern, the Type 2 design establishes a ready-made surface for a WWII German setting. The printed detail provides the foundation for positioning the main subject while leaving room to develop the surrounding scene with additional elements and finishing.
The 380 x 320mm format offers flexibility when planning the composition. It can provide a larger continuous area of brickwork or be trimmed to create a smaller section that fits the available display space. This lets you incorporate the base into a customised layout without using its full dimensions.
Customise the Colour and Finish
The printed surface is resistant to UV rays and to various paints and washes, allowing further finishing to be added to suit the appearance of the diorama. Paint effects and washes can be used to introduce tonal variation and help the brick surface blend with the other groundwork.
A semi-gloss finish is applied to the printed surface. For a more realistic appearance, a coat of matt varnish is recommended to reduce the sheen while retaining the detail and three-dimensional character of the brick design.
