Takom Plastic Model Kit

US WWII M29C Weasel Light Amphibious Tracked Vehicle (1/35)

This 1/35 scale M29C Weasel from Takom represents the amphibious version of the versatile U.S. Army light tracked vehicle used during the later stages of World War II. Designed for operations in snow, mud, and waterlogged terrain, the M29C added flotation equipment and waterproofing to enable river crossings and coastal landings.

Takom’s kit captures the compact proportions and distinctive hull shape of the amphibious Weasel, making it an excellent choice for dioramas or standalone displays focused on Allied logistics and support vehicles.

History

The M29 Weasel was originally developed for winter warfare but quickly proved valuable across a wide range of environments. The M29C variant introduced flotation modifications, allowing the vehicle to operate in shallow coastal waters and flooded terrain.

These vehicles saw service in Europe and the Pacific, supporting infantry units by transporting supplies, evacuating casualties, and moving troops through areas inaccessible to wheeled vehicles.

Lightweight, adaptable, and surprisingly capable, the M29C Weasel became an important logistical asset during late-war operations. For modellers, it offers a distinctive alternative to traditional armoured vehicles, highlighting the often-overlooked support side of WWII mechanised warfare.
