Tamiya Plastic Model Kit

Grumman F-14D Tomcat (1/72) 60795

The Tamiya Grumman F-14D Tomcat (1/72) captures the power and precision of one of the most iconic naval fighters ever built. Designed for both fleet defence and long-range strike missions, the F-14D represented the pinnacle of Tomcat development, with upgraded avionics and twin General Electric F110-GE-400 engines. From Iraq to Afghanistan, the Tomcat served the U.S. Navy with distinction until its retirement in 2006.

This 1/72 scale kit is the first Tamiya-designed Tomcat in the War Bird Series, delivering exceptional detail in a compact, accessible build. The model features a fully movable variable-sweep wing system, poly cap–mounted stabilisers, and precision slide-moulded parts for unmatched accuracy. Optional components let builders display the model with wings extended or swept, and with open or closed canopy, fuel probe, and boarding ladder configurations.

History:

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat first entered service in the 1970s, quickly becoming a symbol of American naval air power. Its variable-sweep wings and long-range Phoenix missile system made it the ultimate fleet defender, while later variants evolved into versatile strike aircraft. The final F-14D version introduced advanced radar and avionics systems, cementing its reputation as a technological marvel. After more than three decades of service, the Tomcat’s legacy continues to inspire modellers and aviation enthusiasts worldwide.
