The Focke-Wulf FW190 entered service in 1941 and quickly established itself as one of the Luftwaffe’s most capable fighters. The A-8 variant, introduced in 1944, featured heavier armament and improved protection, enabling it to excel in bomber interception roles. The R2 modification further enhanced firepower, making it a lethal opponent in the defence of the Reich. Despite overwhelming Allied air superiority by 1945, FW190 pilots continued to inflict significant damage on bomber formations, leaving a lasting mark on aerial warfare history.
