The German Sturmgeschuetz III Ausf.G, or StuG III G-type, was one of the most produced and effective assault guns of WWII. Based on the proven Panzer III chassis, it eliminated the turret to keep its profile low, mounting a powerful long 75mm L/48 gun directly into the hull. Originally built for infantry support, the StuG III evolved into a formidable tank destroyer after encounters with Soviet KV and T-34 tanks on the Eastern Front.
