The HMS King George V was the lead ship of her class of battleships in the Royal Navy during WWII. Launched in 1939 and commissioned in 1940, she quickly became a key asset in the Atlantic theatre. King George V gained fame for her role in the hunt and sinking of the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941. She later served in the Mediterranean and the Pacific, participating in major Allied operations until the end of the war.
