History
Originally introduced in 1959, the Mini revolutionised small car design with its front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout and compact dimensions. Its innovative design maximised passenger space while maintaining excellent handling and fuel efficiency.
The performance-oriented Mini Cooper variant was developed with the involvement of racing legend John Cooper and quickly gained success in motorsport, particularly in rally competition during the 1960s. The Mini became one of Britain’s most famous cars and a cultural icon recognised worldwide.
The Mini Cooper returned in the 1990s with updated mechanical components including a 1.3-litre fuel-injected engine while retaining the classic shape and driving characteristics that made the original so popular.
Combining compact dimensions, distinctive styling, and agile performance, the Mini Cooper remains one of the most celebrated small cars ever produced.
