Tamiya Plastic Model Kit

Mini Cooper 1.3i

The Tamiya Mini Cooper 1.3i in 1/12 scale is a highly detailed large-scale model of one of Britain’s most iconic small cars. This updated re-release features revised decals, additional masking stickers, and realistic floor carpet stickers while preserving the exceptional detail and engineering of the original kit.

Part of the 1/12 scale model kits range, the kit captures the classic styling and character of the fuel-injected Mini Cooper introduced during the 1990s revival period.

  • 1/12 scale plastic model kit
  • Detailed 1.3-litre inline-four engine
  • Opening hinged bonnet
  • Highly detailed interior components
  • Realistic suspension and chassis detail
  • Metal plated wheels included
  • Semi-pneumatic tyres
  • Updated decals with Union Jack roof option

The model faithfully reproduces the compact proportions and distinctive appearance of the Mini Cooper, including detailed dashboard components, door trims, seats, window regulators, and engine bay features. The opening bonnet allows the completed engine detail to remain visible after assembly.

Additional masking stickers assist with cleaner window painting, while the included carpet stickers help create a more realistic interior finish.

History

Originally introduced in 1959, the Mini revolutionised small car design with its front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout and compact dimensions. Its innovative design maximised passenger space while maintaining excellent handling and fuel efficiency.

The performance-oriented Mini Cooper variant was developed with the involvement of racing legend John Cooper and quickly gained success in motorsport, particularly in rally competition during the 1960s. The Mini became one of Britain’s most famous cars and a cultural icon recognised worldwide.

The Mini Cooper returned in the 1990s with updated mechanical components including a 1.3-litre fuel-injected engine while retaining the classic shape and driving characteristics that made the original so popular.

Combining compact dimensions, distinctive styling, and agile performance, the Mini Cooper remains one of the most celebrated small cars ever produced.
