Tamiya 1/48 Panzer III A/B/C French Campaign

Panzer III A/B/C French Campaign (1/48) 32570

The Panzer III A/B/C was an early-war German tank that played a pivotal role in the invasion of France in 1940. Developed in the mid-1930s to replace the inadequate Panzer I and serve as a stopgap before the full introduction of the Panzer III, the vehicle was designed for both training and combat roles. With compact dimensions of 4.8m length and 2.2m width, it was crewed by three men and weighed 8.9 tons. Armed with a 2cm KwK 30 L/55 cannon and a 7.92mm MG34, the tank had 15mm frontal armour and leaf spring suspension. Powered by a 140hp Maybach HL 62 TRM engine, it could reach speeds of up to 40km/h.

  • 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit
  • Authentic detailing of Ausf. A, B, and C variants
  • Features accurate turret, hull, and suspension components
  • Includes extra armour and turret cupola from later battlefield upgrades
  • Perfect for early-war dioramas, especially the 1940 French Campaign

Approximately 1,100 units were produced by April 1940, serving as the mainstay of German Panzer divisions during the invasions of Poland and France. Despite being replaced on the front line from 1943, the Panzer III A/B/C chassis found new life as a base for self-propelled guns and continued to see service in secondary roles until the war’s end.
