The Supermarine Spitfire is widely celebrated as one of the most elegant and effective single-seat fighters of the Second World War. Designed by Reginald J. Mitchell, its prototype took to the skies in March 1936, showcasing advanced aerodynamics, a slim fuselage, and flush-riveted skin that contributed to its superb performance. The early Mk.I and Mk.II proved decisive in the Battle of Britain, and by 1941, the upgraded Mk.V series became the most widely produced variant.

Serving in every major theatre of WWII, the Spitfire Mk.Vb remained a symbol of British aerial dominance and engineering excellence.
