This decal set represents the VMA-542 Flying Tigers, a United States Marine Corps attack squadron that has long been associated with the AV-8B Harrier II. VMA-542 has been primarily based within the continental United States, but its operational history includes overseas combat deployments in support of modern conflicts. The squadron took part in Operation Enduring Freedom and later Operation Odyssey Dawn operating the Harrier in demanding close air support and strike roles. This decal option reflects that later service period, when the AV-8B was firmly established as a frontline Marine Corps asset.
