History:

The P-51D/K Mustang IV was a refined version of the legendary North American Mustang, supplied under Lend-Lease to the Royal Air Force. Entering service in 1944, the Mustang IV was equipped with a powerful Packard-built Merlin engine, bubble canopy for improved visibility, and long-range drop tanks—making it a formidable escort fighter for RAF Bomber Command over Europe.

The D and K variants differed slightly in manufacturing (with K built by Dallas), but both featured four-bladed propellers and the distinctive dorsal fin fillet. RAF Mustangs flew in squadrons such as No. 19 and No. 65, often adorned with invasion stripes and theatre codes. They proved vital in ground-attack roles and air superiority missions alike.

Fast, rugged, and reliable, the Mustang IV stood as one of the RAF’s most capable late-war fighters, continuing into post-war service. Zoukei-Mura’s kit captures the technical brilliance and operational history of this iconic aircraft with museum-quality accuracy and engineering.
