Italeri Plastic Model Kit
Italeri M8 Greyhound / M20 (1/72) 7087
The Italeri M8 Greyhound / M20 is a detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit that allows you to build one of two famous American armoured reconnaissance vehicles from WWII. Developed to replace the lightly armed scout cars used early in the war, the M8 Greyhound combined excellent mobility with improved protection and a powerful 37mm gun, while the closely related M20 utility vehicle served as a command, reconnaissance and personnel carrier.
The completed model measures approximately 65mm in length and faithfully reproduces the distinctive six-wheeled design that made these vehicles so effective on roads and firm ground. Their speed, reliability and versatility saw them operate in a wide variety of roles, from reconnaissance patrols to convoy escort and infantry support.
The M8 Greyhound first saw combat during the Italian Campaign, including operations around Monte Cassino and Anzio, before taking part in the Normandy landings following D-Day. Although the difficult terrain of Normandy limited its off-road performance, crews appreciated the vehicle’s speed and dependability. Both the M8 and M20 remained in service with numerous Allied armies throughout the war and continued serving in many countries for decades afterwards.
Whether displayed on its own or incorporated into a WWII diorama, this compact kit is an excellent addition to any Allied vehicle collection. Browse our range of 1/72 Vehicle Kits and complete your project with our selection of model paints, weathering products and modelling glues.

History
The M8 Greyhound entered service with the United States Army in 1943 as a fast armoured reconnaissance vehicle designed to gather intelligence and support advancing forces. Armed with a 37mm cannon and protected by light armour, it proved highly successful during campaigns in Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. The unarmed M20 utility car shared the same chassis and was widely used as a command vehicle and personnel carrier. Following WWII, both vehicles remained in military service around the world for many years, becoming some of the most widely exported American armoured vehicles of the post-war era.
