Rye Field Models Plastic Model Kit

Tiger Ausf.B King Tiger Clear Version (1/35)

This 1/35 scale Tiger Ausf.B King Tiger Clear Version from Rye Field Models offers a highly detailed representation of one of Germany’s most formidable heavy tanks of the Second World War. The kit includes transparent hull and turret components, allowing the full internal structure of the vehicle to be displayed while still showcasing the external shape of the famous Königstiger.

The model is engineered with an extensive internal layout that recreates the fighting compartment, engine bay and transmission areas. Clear parts make it possible to display the internal assemblies without removing external panels, making the finished model especially striking when viewed in a display case or diorama setting. Photo etched parts and 3D printed components further enhance the fine details throughout the build.

History:

The Tiger II, commonly known as the King Tiger or Königstiger, was introduced by Germany in 1944 as the successor to the earlier Tiger I heavy tank. Combining thick armour with the powerful 88mm KwK 43 gun, the Tiger II was capable of destroying enemy armour at long range while remaining extremely difficult to penetrate from the front. Its design incorporated sloped armour influenced by the Panther tank, increasing its protection without excessively increasing weight.

Despite its impressive battlefield capabilities, the Tiger II suffered from mechanical reliability issues and high production costs. Only around 490 units were produced before the end of the war. Nevertheless, the King Tiger became one of the most recognisable heavy tanks of WWII and remains a popular subject for scale modelling due to its imposing appearance and complex internal layout.
