This 1/48 scale assembly kit from Tamiya recreates the formidable British Sherman IC Firefly, a WWII tank conversion designed to counter heavily armoured German vehicles such as the Tiger and Panther. The model accurately depicts the long-barrelled 17-pounder anti-tank gun and turret counterweight, along with finely detailed accessories and hull features. Its die-cast hull adds realistic weight, making it an impressive display piece.

The Sherman IC Firefly was Britain’s answer to the German heavy tanks of WWII. By rearming standard Sherman tanks supplied through the Lend-Lease programme with the powerful 17-pounder gun, British forces gained a weapon capable of defeating a Tiger I’s frontal armour at over 1,000 metres. The conversion, most often based on the M4A4 (Sherman V) but also applied to the M4 (Sherman I), played a vital role in Allied armoured operations from the Normandy landings through the final offensives in Europe.
