Tamiya Plastic Model Kit

Kettenkraftrad Mid Production (1/35) 35377

This 1/35 scale plastic model recreates the mid-production version of the German Kettenkraftrad. Unlike Tamiya’s earlier 1973 release, this version features all-new tooling for superior accuracy and detail. Originally developed for airborne troops, the Kettenkraftrad proved indispensable for transporting materials, equipment and personnel over rough terrain, particularly on the Eastern Front. This kit also includes a detailed trailer and three infantry figures to enhance diorama potential.

  • Accurate mid-production variant with revised suspension and wheel layout
  • Newly designed one-piece straight sections for assembly-type tracks
  • Detailed engine and transmission with open or closed hatch option
  • Photo-etched grille parts with included bending jig for realism
  • Includes 3 infantry figures in realistic poses, based on 3D scan data
  • Canvas-covered trailer and detailed instrument panel decals included
  • Two paint scheme options: dark yellow or three-tone camouflage

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History

The Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkraftrad was a unique German half-track motorcycle used during WWII. Originally designed for airborne operations, it was widely employed on the Eastern Front due to its superior cross-country mobility. With a steering handle like a motorcycle and tracked rear for traction, it could tow equipment, trailers and even small artillery. The mid-production model, built in large numbers, featured improved reliability and functionality. Its versatility made it invaluable for supply, communication, and engineering roles across various theatres of the war.
