History

Satyrs, rooted in Greek mythology, were originally woodland spirits associated with revelry, music, and wild indulgence. Over time, their image transformed into horned, goat-legged beings who straddled the line between nature’s beauty and its darker, untamed aspects. In fantasy traditions, satyrs often appear as dual-natured beings—sometimes playful tricksters, other times savage marauders. The largest among them, known here as Satyr Brutes, embody the extreme of this spectrum: towering, violent warriors driven by frenzy and ritual. Their raids echo myths of ancient Dionysian festivals, when unchecked passion spilled into chaos and destruction. In wargaming, they capture the essence of untamed wilderness unleashed, standing as a challenge to civilised kingdoms and monstrous rivals alike.
