Masking Tape & Fluid

Model Masking Tape and Masking Fluid

Achieve clean, crisp paint lines with our range of model masking tape and model masking fluid. Whether you’re painting camouflage, canopies, wheel hubs or fine details, the right masking products help protect finished areas while producing professional-looking results.

If you’re searching for masking tape for models, modelling masking tape or masking tape for model painting, you’ll find quality products designed specifically for the precision required in scale modelling.

Why Use Specialist Model Masking Tape?

Unlike general-purpose masking tape, modelling masking tape is designed for delicate painted surfaces and fine detail work. It conforms well to curves, helps produce sharp paint edges and is easier to remove cleanly when used correctly.

Masking tape is suitable for a wide variety of modelling tasks, including:

  • Aircraft canopy framing.
  • Camouflage patterns.
  • Vehicle markings and stripes.
  • Ship deck painting.
  • Wheel hubs and tyres.
  • Figures and small detail painting.

When to Use Masking Fluid

Model masking fluid is ideal for areas where tape is difficult to apply. It can be brushed onto small or irregular shapes, allowed to dry before painting and then removed once the paint has cured, revealing the protected surface underneath.

Many modellers combine masking tape and liquid masking products to tackle complex paint schemes, especially on aircraft canopies and intricate camouflage patterns.

Tips for Better Masking Results

For the cleanest finish, always apply masking products to a fully cured paint surface. Burnish the tape gently around edges before painting and remove it carefully once the paint has become touch dry. Applying several light coats rather than one heavy coat can also help reduce the chance of paint building up against the tape edge.

Whether you use an airbrush or a traditional paintbrush, good masking is one of the simplest ways to improve the overall finish of a model.
