History:
The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark was a revolutionary aircraft, combining supersonic speed with long-range strike capabilities and swing-wing versatility. The F-111C variant was specifically produced for the Royal Australian Air Force, combining features of the F-111A and F-111B to meet Australia’s strategic defence needs. Entering service in 1973, the F-111C provided the RAAF with unmatched strike capability in the Asia-Pacific region, remaining in active service until 2010. Renowned for its low-level penetration bombing and precision strike roles, the aircraft earned the nickname “Pig” in Australian service for its terrain-following radar and ground-hugging flight style. Academy’s 1/48 scale kit offers a detailed and accurate representation of this iconic Cold War-era aircraft.
