History:
The Lavochkin La-7 was the final wartime development of the La-5 fighter, featuring a refined airframe, lighter construction, and improved Shvetsov ASh-82FN radial engine. Entering combat in 1944, the La-7 demonstrated excellent speed, manoeuvrability, and firepower, making it a formidable adversary for late-war German fighters such as the Bf 109G and Fw 190A. Soviet ace Ivan Kozhedub, the highest-scoring Allied pilot of WWII, achieved many of his victories flying the La-7. Its performance and reliability ensured that it played a vital role in securing Soviet air superiority during the final push into Eastern Europe. Academy’s 1/48 kit offers modellers the chance to recreate this legendary aircraft with historical accuracy and detail.
