History
The Lamborghini Murciélago marked a major chapter in the brand’s evolution when it launched in 2002. Built at Sant’Agata Bolognese, it combined an imposing low-slung shape with a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V12, continuing Lamborghini’s long tradition of dramatic high-performance engines. Early models could reach 100 km/h in roughly 3.8 seconds and surpassed 330 km/h, placing the car firmly among the top-tier supercars of its era.
Beyond raw performance, the Murciélago incorporated all-wheel drive and modern electronic systems to sharpen handling and stability. The interior followed a focused, sporty layout but was finished with high-quality materials that elevated comfort and style. Production continued until 2010, with over 4,000 examples completed before the Aventador assumed its role as Lamborghini’s new flagship. The Murciélago remains widely admired for its balance of power, road presence, and unmistakable Italian design.
