History:

The Panavia Tornado was a collaborative project between the UK, Germany and Italy, designed to provide a multi-role combat aircraft capable of operating in demanding conditions. Entering service in the late 1970s, it proved its effectiveness in strike, reconnaissance and air defence suppression roles. The German Air Force introduced the ASSTA (Avionics System Software Tornado in Ada) upgrade programme to extend the Tornado’s service life. The ASSTA 3.1 variant added advanced avionics, precision strike capability and compatibility with modern weapons systems. Still active in European air forces, the Tornado remains a symbol of Cold War collaboration and enduring combat versatility.
