History:
The Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk, often referred to as the “Stealth Fighter,” was developed in the late 1970s as the world’s first operational aircraft designed around stealth technology. First flown in 1981, it entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 1983. Its faceted surfaces and radar-absorbing materials made it virtually invisible to radar at the time, giving it a decisive advantage in modern combat. The F-117A gained global attention during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, where it spearheaded precision bombing campaigns against heavily defended Iraqi targets with near impunity. The aircraft’s unique appearance, advanced technology, and combat record cemented its place as one of the most revolutionary designs in aviation history. It remained in service until 2008, leaving behind a legacy that reshaped military aviation.
