History:
The Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight was developed in the early 1960s as a medium-lift tandem-rotor transport helicopter. The CH-46E variant, introduced in the 1970s, featured upgraded engines, avionics, and structural reinforcements. Nicknamed the “Phrog,” it became a cornerstone of US Marine Corps aviation, transporting troops, supplies, and performing medevac missions. The CH-46E served extensively in Vietnam, later in the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan, proving its reliability in combat and humanitarian operations. Despite being replaced by the MV-22 Osprey in the 2000s, the CH-46E remains an iconic symbol of Marine aviation, remembered for its distinctive profile and decades of dependable service.
