V-100 With XM-174 Grenade Launcher (1/72)
This 1/72 scale plastic model kit from ACE Models depicts the V-100 armoured vehicle fitted with the XM-174 grenade launcher. Compact, fast and lightly armoured, the V-100 was designed for internal security and reconnaissance roles, particularly in counter insurgency operations.
The inclusion of the XM-174 automatic grenade launcher gives this variant a distinctive appearance and reflects field modifications used to improve close range firepower. Despite its small scale, the kit captures the characteristic shape of the V-100 and its turret mounted weapon system.

History
The V-100 armoured vehicle, developed by Cadillac Gage in the early 1960s, was part of the Commando family of wheeled armoured vehicles. It was designed for mobility and ease of deployment rather than heavy armour, making it well suited to internal security and patrol duties.
During the Vietnam War, the V-100 saw extensive service with US and allied forces, where it was often adapted in the field to meet evolving threats. One such adaptation was the use of the XM-174 automatic grenade launcher, an early belt fed weapon that provided a high volume of suppressive fire against infantry targets.
The combination of the V-100 and XM-174 reflects the experimental and improvised nature of many Vietnam era vehicle configurations, making this an interesting subject for modellers interested in Cold War and Southeast Asian conflicts.
