History:
The M2 Bradley was developed under the Mechanised Infantry Combat Vehicle program to provide the U.S. Army with a versatile, well-protected, and mobile fighting vehicle. Named after General Omar Bradley, it combined troop-carrying capability with heavy firepower. The vehicle’s aluminium alloy armour, reinforced with additional metals, offered protection against heavy machine-gun fire and small-calibre munitions. Its main weapon, the 25 mm M242 Bushmaster cannon, could penetrate significant armour, while the TOW missile system allowed it to take on enemy tanks. Throughout its service life, the Bradley has been continuously upgraded, improving survivability, electronics, and battlefield awareness. From the Cold War through to operations in the Middle East, the M2 Bradley has proven to be a reliable and adaptable vehicle, remaining central to U.S. mechanised infantry operations for decades.
