McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle (1/72)
The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle programme began in the 1970s with the goal of providing the United States Air Force with a high-performance air superiority fighter. From this proven and robust design emerged the F-15E Strike Eagle, a two-seat, all-weather fighter-bomber developed to expand the aircraft’s role into deep strike and interdiction missions.
Entering service with the USAF in the late 1980s, the F-15E replaced the ageing F-111 in frontline service. While optimised for ground attack and bombing roles, it retained the core flight characteristics that defined the original F-15, including its twin tail fins, strong mid-wing layout, and powerful twin-engine configuration. The tandem cockpit layout placed a Weapon Systems Officer in the rear seat, responsible for navigation, target tracking, and electronic countermeasures.

Designed for long-range strike missions, the F-15E combined speed, payload capacity, and survivability. Its ability to operate in all weather conditions, day or night, made it a highly effective platform for precision strike and interdiction operations across a wide range of scenarios.
The Strike Eagle saw extensive operational service from the early 1990s onwards, including deployment during the Desert Shield and Desert Storm campaigns. Its performance in these conflicts helped establish the F-15E as one of the most capable and enduring strike fighters of the modern era, a reputation it continues to hold decades after its introduction.
