History
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 Foxbat was developed by the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War as a response to perceived high-speed threats from Western reconnaissance and bomber aircraft. Designed primarily for extreme speed and high altitude performance, the MiG-25 became one of the fastest operational military aircraft ever built.
The RB and RBT variants combined reconnaissance capability with limited strike functions, allowing the aircraft to conduct high-speed overflights while also delivering ordnance if required. Powered by massive turbojet engines and built using stainless steel rather than lightweight alloys, the Foxbat sacrificed agility for raw performance. Its appearance in the West during the 1970s caused considerable concern and influenced aircraft development on both sides of the Iron Curtain.
