History
The summer of 1941 marked the beginning of Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union. German infantry units advanced rapidly across vast distances, often operating far ahead of supply lines and under extreme environmental conditions.
While early advances were swift, soldiers faced intense heat, dust, exhaustion and increasing resistance as the campaign progressed. Infantry units formed the backbone of these operations, responsible for holding ground, securing routes and engaging enemy forces at close range.
This figure set captures that early phase of the Eastern Front campaign, focusing on the everyday reality of infantry movement rather than combat spectacle, and provides a historically grounded basis for realistic WWII dioramas.
