Kitty Hawk Models Plastic Model Kit
Mirage F.1CT / CR (1/48)
The Mirage F.1CT and F.1CR represent the later, adapted variants of Dassault’s Mirage F.1, developed to extend the aircraft’s service life in ground attack and tactical reconnaissance roles. Visually familiar but internally updated, these aircraft bridged the gap between Cold War interceptors and modern multi-role combat aircraft.
This 1/48 scale kit from Kitty Hawk Models captures the distinctive features of both variants, including the revised airframe details and mission-specific equipment. Fine recessed panel lines, a detailed cockpit and correctly proportioned external stores allow the modeller to build an accurate representation of these late-service Mirage F.1s.

History
Originally designed as a lightweight interceptor, the Mirage F.1 evolved significantly over its service life. By the late 1980s and early 1990s, the French Air Force introduced the F.1CT and F.1CR variants to meet emerging operational needs. The F.1CT was optimised for ground attack and close air support, while the F.1CR focused on tactical reconnaissance, replacing older dedicated recce platforms.
These variants saw active service during the Gulf War, operations in the Balkans, and later missions over Afghanistan and Africa. Despite their ageing airframes, the upgraded Mirage F.1s proved reliable and effective, operating alongside newer aircraft until their eventual retirement in the mid-2010s. Their long and varied operational history makes them an especially interesting subject for modellers interested in late Cold War and early modern air combat.
