History
The Me-262 entered service in 1944 and was the first jet fighter to see operational combat. Its speed and firepower gave it a significant advantage over piston engine fighters of the time.
Although introduced too late and in insufficient numbers to alter the course of the war, the Me-262 influenced post war jet aircraft development and remains one of the most important aircraft designs in aviation history.
