OcCre Wooden Ship Model Kit
Buccaneer (1/100) 12002
The OcCre Buccaneer represents the small but fast vessels used by pirates and buccaneers during the 17th and 18th centuries, when the Caribbean became the centre of some of the most notorious sea raids in history. These ships were built for speed and agility, perfect for chasing merchant vessels, slipping through shallow coastal waters, and vanishing before naval forces could respond.
While pirates are remembered for their attacks on shipping and coastal towns, buccaneers often operated in a grey area between smuggling, privateering and outright piracy. The Buccaneer model reflects the kind of light, versatile sailing craft that would have been used for these risky and often brutal ventures across the trade routes between Europe and the Americas.

History
During the so called Golden Age of Piracy, roughly from the late 1600s to the early 1700s, the Caribbean was filled with small, fast ships crewed by pirates, buccaneers and privateers. These vessels targeted the heavily loaded merchant ships that carried gold, silver, sugar and other valuable cargoes between the New World and Europe. Speed and manoeuvrability mattered more than heavy armament, as success depended on catching prey quickly and escaping just as fast.
Bucaneers were often former sailors or hunters who turned to the sea, operating out of loosely governed ports and island settlements. Some worked under letters of marque from European powers, while others simply took what they could. The ships they used became symbols of both adventure and lawlessness, and their stories still shape how we imagine piracy today. The OcCre Buccaneer captures that era in physical form, letting you recreate a vessel from one of the most dramatic chapters in naval history.
