OcCre Wooden Ship Model Kit
Mississippi River Boat (1/80) 14003
The Mississippi River Boat captures a very different side of nautical history, one built around trade, travel, and life along the river rather than open sea warfare. During the 19th century, paddle steamers became the backbone of the Mississippi, carrying passengers, cargo, and stories up and down one of the longest and most important waterways in North America.
These distinctive vessels were powered by large steam driven paddle wheels and were designed to navigate shallow waters while stopping at countless towns and ports along the way. From the river’s source at Lake Itasca in Minnesota all the way down to New Orleans, they connected communities and shaped the culture of the entire region. The OcCre model recreates that elegant, practical design in wood, with a focus on faithful lines and visible mechanical detail.

History
Mississippi riverboats played a central role in the economic and social life of the United States during the 1800s. They moved cotton, timber, food, and people, turning the river into a floating highway that stretched across half a continent. Cities grew along its banks because of these ships, and entire industries depended on their steady movement up and down the water.
Beyond their practical purpose, these steamboats also became symbols of a slower, more romantic age of travel. With their tall stacks, wide decks, and rhythmic paddle wheels, they remain one of the most recognisable images of life on the great American rivers. This OcCre kit lets you recreate that era in miniature, one plank and railing at a time.
