Israel acquired the single-seat fighter-bomber version, which the French Air Force never used, and these aircraft played a crucial role during the Six-Day War, achieving several air victories and providing vital ground support against neighbouring forces.

History: Developed by Sud Aviation, the Vautour IIA was part of France’s early jet era, designed for speed and versatility. Israel adopted the type in the late 1950s, utilising it extensively in reconnaissance and attack roles. During the Six-Day War in 1967, Vautours flew daring low-level strikes, often without escort, proving their resilience and adaptability. Though eventually replaced by more modern aircraft, the Vautour remains a symbol of Israel’s early jet capability and French aviation innovation.
