History:
The Tiger I, officially designated Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E, was first deployed by the German Army in late 1942. The initial production models were sent to the Eastern Front, where they quickly gained a fearsome reputation for their ability to destroy enemy armour at long range. Armed with the powerful 88mm KwK 36 gun and protected by thick armour, the Tiger I set new standards for tank design. However, its weight, complexity, and high production cost limited the number produced. The initial batch featured distinctive early features such as drum cupolas and smoke dischargers, which were later modified in subsequent versions. Despite its challenges, the Tiger I became an icon of WWII armoured warfare, influencing tank development worldwide and remaining one of the most recognisable tanks of the era.
