History
The Panther entered service in 1943 and quickly became one of Germany’s most important armoured vehicles. Designed in response to encounters with heavily armoured Soviet tanks, it featured sloped armour and a high-velocity main gun capable of engaging enemy armour at long range.
The Ausf A variant introduced refinements over earlier models, improving reliability and crew ergonomics while retaining the Panther’s characteristic firepower and protection. Late-production vehicles incorporated further detail changes driven by battlefield experience and manufacturing realities.
Although mechanically complex, the Panther proved highly effective when properly maintained, earning a reputation as one of the most formidable medium tanks of the war. For modellers, the Panther A Late offers a balance of classic Panther lines with evolved wartime features, making it a compelling subject for detailed builds.
