Takom Plastic Model Kit
German Army WWII Tiger I “Experimental Project” Heavy Tank (1/35)
This 1/35 scale Tiger I “Experimental Project” from Takom explores a conceptual development of Germany’s iconic heavy tank. Based on late-war design studies and prototype concepts, this kit presents an alternative Tiger configuration that reflects the ongoing experimentation aimed at improving firepower, protection, and battlefield performance.
Takom equips the kit with segmented tracks and an assembly aid for easier construction, along with metal gun barrels for sharper realism straight out of the box. Clear parts and photo-etched details are included to enhance optical elements and fine surface features, while three marking options allow different presentation styles.

History
The Tiger I entered service in 1942 and quickly became synonymous with German heavy armour. As combat experience accumulated, engineers continuously explored upgrades and alternative configurations, experimenting with armour layouts, weapon systems, and internal arrangements in an effort to maintain battlefield superiority.
Many of these projects remained theoretical or were limited to prototype stages, constrained by material shortages and shifting priorities late in the war. Experimental Tiger concepts reflect this period of intense development, where ambitious ideas collided with increasingly harsh realities.
For modellers, these “what if” variants offer a compelling blend of historical foundation and speculative design. This kit captures that experimental spirit, providing a fresh take on one of the most recognisable tanks of the Second World War.
