History
The Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-3 was introduced in early 1942 as an evolution of the original Fw 190 design, incorporating the BMW 801D-2 radial engine and increased armament. It quickly earned a reputation as one of the most effective fighter aircraft of the war, capable of outperforming early Allied fighters in both speed and firepower.
The A-3 variant was used extensively on the Western Front and was known for its rugged construction, strong climbing capability, and versatility in various combat roles. It served in fighter, bomber escort, and ground attack roles, and its success helped push the Allies to accelerate development of more advanced aircraft in response. The Fw 190 remains one of the iconic fighters of the Luftwaffe and a favourite subject for scale modellers.
