Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
Heinkel He 219 Uhu (1/48) 61057
The Heinkel He 219 “Uhu” was one of the most advanced piston-engined night-fighters of the Second World War. Designed with a long, slender fuselage and powered by two Daimler-Benz DB603 engines, it proved highly effective against Allied bombers during night operations. The final and most sophisticated variant, the He 219A-7, featured larger, improved supercharger intakes for its DB603G engines, as well as the FuG220 radar system for target acquisition.
- 1/48 scale precision plastic model kit
- Highly detailed cockpit with pressurised crew compartment
- Accurate radar array and “Schräge Musik” upward-firing cannon system
- Optional parts for different armament configurations
- Tricycle undercarriage faithfully reproduced
- Includes authentic Luftwaffe night-fighter markings
Despite its advanced design, which included the world’s first operational ejection seats and exceptional pilot visibility from a forward-positioned cockpit, only 268 were built before the war’s end. Political misjudgments and production delays hindered its full potential, yet the Uhu earned a reputation as one of the most capable night-fighters of the conflict, claiming numerous bomber kills in its brief service life.
