Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
U.S. Light Tank M24 Chaffee European Theatre (1/35)
The M24 Chaffee was developed as the successor to the M3 and M5 Stuart light tanks, introducing a new balance of mobility, protection and firepower to U.S. armoured units. This 1/35 scale kit represents a newly tooled Tamiya original, based on extensive research of the real vehicle and capturing the refined design that marked a significant step forward in light tank development.
The model accurately portrays the Chaffee’s compact, low profile form, with sloped armour on both hull and turret and a powerful 75mm main gun originally derived from aircraft armament. Fine surface details such as cast textures on the turret front, weld lines and gun shield shapes are carefully reproduced to give the finished model a realistic and convincing appearance.

History
The M24 Chaffee was formally adopted by the United States Army in 1944 as a replacement for the earlier Stuart series. Its designers introduced sloped armour for improved protection, a torsion bar suspension system uncommon in U.S. tanks of the period, and a 75mm gun that offered significantly greater firepower than previous light tanks.
The Chaffee entered service in time to see combat during the final stages of the Second World War, fighting in France, Italy and across Western Europe. After the war, it continued to serve in several major conflicts including the Korean War and the Indochina War, cementing its reputation as one of the most capable light tanks of the mid 20th century.
