Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
Vought F4U-1D Corsair (1/48) 61061
The Vought F4U-1D Corsair was an advanced WWII carrier-based fighter, designed around the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 2,000hp radial engine. Its distinctive inverted gull-wing design allowed clearance for the largest propeller fitted to a fighter at the time, while improving aerodynamic efficiency. Building on the improvements of the earlier F4U-1A, the F4U-1D introduced a clear frameless canopy for superior visibility, additional underwing pylons for carrying bombs or napalm, and hardpoints for 5-inch rockets.

Renowned for its speed, firepower, and ruggedness, over 3,700 F4U-1Ds were built, cementing its place as one of the most respected naval fighters of the war.
