History
The UH-1Y Venom was developed as part of the H-1 upgrade programme, intended to modernise the US Marine Corps helicopter fleet while retaining proven airframe concepts. Entering service in the late 2000s, the Venom replaced ageing UH-1N helicopters and introduced major improvements in power, avionics and mission flexibility.
Sharing a high level of commonality with the AH-1Z Viper, the UH-1Y has been widely used for troop transport, command and control, medical evacuation and close support roles. It has seen extensive operational service in the Middle East and other deployment areas, continuing the Huey legacy in a thoroughly modern form while remaining adaptable, reliable and effective.
