Victrix Plastic Miniatures
Scots/Picts Archers & Crossbowmen (28mm)
This 28mm plastic miniature set from Victrix represents missile troops used by the Picts of northern Britain and the early Scots during the Late Roman and Viking Age periods. Designed for historical tabletop wargaming, the set provides a range of lightly equipped skirmishers suitable for supporting infantry formations or operating independently in rough terrain.
The figures can be assembled with either bows or crossbows, giving flexibility for different historical interpretations and gaming systems. Multiple poses are included, such as shooting, loading, resting or having just released an arrow or bolt. A wide selection of heads, cloaks and hooded options allows each model to be customised, helping to create varied units of woodland skirmishers and ambushers.

History:
The Picts dominated much of northern Scotland from around the 3rd century AD and were known for their ability to fight effectively in difficult terrain. Their warriors frequently launched raids into Roman Britain and later into neighbouring territories. Missile troops played an important role in these tactics, supporting spear armed infantry and harassing enemies from concealed positions.
Operating in forests, hills and marshland, Pict warriors relied heavily on mobility and surprise. Archers could disrupt enemy formations before close combat began, while smaller groups could ambush marching forces. Some historical sources suggest the use of early crossbow like weapons related to the Roman arcuballista, although their use in warfare rather than hunting remains debated among historians.
