Crusader Ailthean Tractor (28mm) WAAQU010
The Ailthean Light Armoured Tractor entered service in 1750 as a brand-new design for the harsh Tok-Kryst frontier. Built from the treads up, it featured an enclosed hull, improved suspension, and thicker armour, offering twice the engine power of its predecessors. This made it far more capable in rough terrain, though at the expense of comfort—its cramped, noisy interior left crews desperate for fresh air during long marches.
Developed as a rhyfler support tractor, the Ailthean was typically attached to infantry units where it performed reconnaissance, screening, and fire support roles. Its 78mm main gun, though intended for high-explosive and smoke rounds, was also effective against lighter enemy tractors. True to Tok engineering philosophy, it favoured protection over mobility, utilising a combined hull-and-turret design that relied on the transmission to rotate the gun—a clever but limiting system in the heat of combat.
