Kitty Hawk Models Plastic Model Kit
Russian Yak-130 (1/48)
The Yak-130 is a modern advanced jet trainer designed to prepare pilots for fourth and fifth generation combat aircraft. Developed with a strong emphasis on handling characteristics and avionics simulation, it allows pilots to transition smoothly to frontline fighters while remaining cost-effective to operate.
This 1/48 scale kit from Kitty Hawk Models captures the clean, contemporary lines of the Yak-130 with finely recessed surface detail and a well-proportioned airframe. The tandem cockpit is accurately represented, reflecting the aircraft’s training role, while the overall moulding lends itself well to both clean display builds and lightly weathered operational finishes.

History
The Yak-130 programme emerged in the post-Cold War period as Russia sought a new generation advanced trainer to replace older jet training aircraft. Designed to replicate the flight characteristics of modern fighters through advanced flight control systems, the Yak-130 was intended to bridge the gap between basic training and frontline combat aircraft.
Entering service in the late 2000s, the Yak-130 has become a cornerstone of Russian pilot training and has also been exported to several other air forces worldwide. In addition to its training role, the aircraft is capable of carrying light weapons, allowing it to perform secondary attack missions when required. Its combination of modern systems, flexibility and efficiency has made it one of the most successful advanced jet trainers of its generation.
