Zvezda Plastic Model Kit
BA-3 Soviet Armoured Car (1/35)
This 1/35 scale kit from Zvezda represents the BA-3, a Soviet heavy armoured car introduced in 1933 during the interwar period. Based on the Ford-Timken 6×4 truck chassis, the BA-3 was notable for carrying a level of firepower more commonly associated with light tanks rather than wheeled reconnaissance vehicles.
The vehicle mounted a 45mm cannon in a turret derived from the early T-26 tank, giving it a clear advantage over many contemporary armoured cars. With three axles, two of them driven, and the option to fit auxiliary tracks over the rear wheels, the BA-3 was designed to improve mobility on soft ground, although its performance was still limited by its truck-based origins.
Zvezda captures the distinctive proportions and utilitarian design of the BA-3 with cleanly moulded plastic parts and well-defined surface detail. Despite its relatively compact size, the vehicle has a purposeful, almost improvised appearance that reflects early Soviet armoured development.

- 137 plastic parts
- Model length approximately 14cm

This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
Although produced in limited numbers, the BA-3 marked an important step in Soviet armoured car design and saw service during the 1930s and early stages of the Second World War. Its unusual combination of wheeled mobility and tank-level armament makes it a visually distinctive and historically interesting subject.
