History:
During Egypt’s Middle Kingdom, armies were drawn from the population under a system of conscription, with one soldier selected for every hundred adult men. These forces were equipped with copper and bronze weapons and led by elite commanders chosen by the Pharaoh himself. However, around 1700 B.C., the arrival of the Hyksos and Hurrians brought radical change. These invaders introduced superior bronze weaponry and the composite bow, revolutionising Egyptian warfare. This set captures a critical moment in military history—just before Egypt transformed from a Bronze Age kingdom into a major ancient empire.
