The Yak-7B was an improved development of the earlier Yak-7 fighter, featuring the upgraded M-105PF engine producing 1,180 horsepower. This provided the aircraft with increased performance and reliability in combat. The Yak-7B also benefited from reinforced armament, replacing the original ShKAS machine guns with two 12.7 mm UBS heavy machine guns.
