The Series IIA was produced between 1961 and 1971 and was available in both 88-inch- and 109-inch-wheelbase variants. The vehicle often served as a light transport, reconnaissance platform and general utility vehicle for armed forces.
This kit represents a mid-1960s military-specification Rover 8 with a range of authentic field features. History
The Land Rover Series II and IIA became among the most widely used utility vehicles of the twentieth century. Their simple mechanical design, strong ladder chassis and Four Wheel Drive capability made them suitable for everything from farming and exploration to military service.
Military versions, such as the Rover 8, were used extensively by British and allied forces during the Cold War. They were commonly deployed as light transport vehicles, communications platforms and support vehicles across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Their ability to operate in difficult terrain ensured the Land Rover became one of the most recognisable military utility vehicles of its time.
