The NH90 Frigate Helicopter was specially designed for use on frigates, but can also be used as a tactical troop transport and for special units. To a great extent it contributes to the interoperability of the forces of Europe and allied nations overseas within the framework of NATO and UN missions. For combating submarines the NH90 is equipped with external hardpoints for the NATO standard MU90 torpedo. The latest SONAR installations and state-of-the-art electronics with operating stations inside the fuselage make the NH90 one of the most efficient weapons systems. The first NH90 NFHs were delivered to the Dutch navy in the spring of 2010 and on 5.5.2010 the French fleet air arm received the first machines under type designation NH90 Caiman.
