History:
The AH-64D Longbow Apache was developed as an upgrade to the original AH-64A, introducing advanced battlefield capabilities through its mast-mounted AN/APG-78 radar system. This radar allowed the Apache to detect, track, and engage multiple targets simultaneously, even in poor visibility conditions. Entering service in the late 1990s, the Longbow quickly became the backbone of the US Army’s attack helicopter fleet.
